Equal Gender Representation

Taekwondo is one of the few martial arts disciplines that offers gender equality in Olympic competition. The event will feature 128 taekwondo fighters, evenly split between men and women, competing across eight different weight categories (four for each gender). This equal distribution underscores the Olympics’ commitment to gender equality in sports.

In the Paris Olympics 2024, Taekwondo will feature four weight categories for both men and women. More than the sparring matches

In addition to the sparring matches, Taekwondo also includes a Poomsae competition. Poomsae is a set sequence of movements that showcases the athlete’s precision, balance, and control. It is a non-contact discipline that focuses on the execution of techniques with grace and accuracy.
